The Summer Marcos de Niza Fundamental Camp will begin in June and is open to all including incoming new Freshman, JV, and Varsity, who are interested in playing basketball at Marcos next year.
***This will be the weeks of June 1 - June 18***
***Monday-Thursday's 1:30PM - 3:30PM***
**These times are a little later than last year, so that the boy's can also enroll in the SAS if they want**
**A camp waiver must be filled out before they can attend the camp**
The cost is $50 per player.
The Summer City of Tempe League will begin May 25th.
There will be tryouts for the Summer Evening & Weekend tounaments.
This was paid for by the Tax Credit donations from our parents and fans!
($385 for Varsity and $385 for the JV team, which may include some freshman)
The Varsity Mesquite "Best in Basketball" Tournament, June 25-27, is also covered by the Tax Credits ($350).
The 2 Central "Jamboree" Varsity Tournaments, June 5-6 & June 12-13, are also covered by the Tax Credits ($180 each).
The Varsity NAU "Best of the West" Tournament is June 19-21. Marcos de Niza placed 3rd last summer!!! Go Padres!!
The Cager Club will pay for the tournament portion ($350) and 1/2 of the room & board total ($650).
The room & board is $100 per camper and the boys will have to pay $50 each to cover 1/2.

SUMMER BALL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
06/21/09
The Varsity plays against Chandler on Monday night @ 9PM at McClintock High School. The JV plays against Horizon Honors @ 8PM in the Marcos Main Gym.

The Varsity had to cancel the NAU tournament because of a shortage of players at the last minute. This was sad for the players who were so excited to go. Next year we will definite committment from players and families before we plan another trip.

The Varsity played this weekend in the Central Jamboree. We won against Chavez, Notre Dame, Centennial, and lost close games against Central & St Mary's (the finesse of St Mary's has certainly declined - spectators at the game will attest to this :))

The Varsity played tough against Cesar Chavez, a 1 point game at 1/2 time, and then a fizzle at the end. The JV won an easy game against Coronado.

The Varsity lost in a close game against Chandler! The JV won against Horizon Honors. Go Padres!!

The Varsity had an easy win against Coronado! The JV won in overtime against Fairfield. Go Padres!!

The Varsity had an off night against Seton Catholic, losing by 5. The shots were off in the 1st half, then the team rallied back in the 2nd half and almost pulled it off. JV had an exciting win against Desert Vista, winning by 1 point in a back-and-forth game!!

A great game played by the Varsity against Mountain View. Down by only 3 at half, we ended up losing by 9. A great effort by all against one of the top 5A teams in AZ. Once again, the JV came out strong with a easy win against Valley Christian!

Congratulations to the JV and Varsity teams tonight! The Varsity easily beat Perry High School and the JV dominated Seton High School. Go Padres!!!

We will have practice/tryouts Wed. and Thurs. ( 20-21st ) next week from 1-2:30 p.m , then have another practice on the 25th at 10;00 a.m . This is to get ready for our first league game that will start on the 26th. I know some of the incoming frosh won't be able to make some but when camp starts they can get on and play in the J.V league. The thick of the schedule will be when camp starts on the 1st and we have 4 weekend tourneys in a row!! See ya Coach Stark

05/27/09 INFORMATION FROM THE MESQUITE COACH:
There will be a $5.00 per day entry fee.
There will be seating provided. Please DO NOT need to bring in your own chairs.
There will be a concession stand for players and parents.
There will be NO coolers aloud in either gym. Their district has even shut off all water fountains in the all of the district gyms because of spillage onto the wood floors.
