What to Bring:

Players are staying in dorms and need to bring all of the essentials - sheets, pillows, blanket! (it’s going to be chilly at night), sweatshirt, towels, soap, shampoo, etc.

All meals are provided at no extra charge for players.

Parents & Players,

Get ready for a fun and exciting weekend of basketball in Flagstaff at the NAU Beat the Heat Basketball tournament!   

Registration will begin on Friday at 1:00pm in Rolle Activity Center .  Please be there on time so that players can get into dorm rooms in Gabaldon as soon as possible.  It will take approx. 2 ½ hours to travel from Tempe , so plan to leave by 10:30am on Friday, to arrive on time.

After check-in there will be basketball skills clinics from 3 to 4pm at the Walkup Sky Dome.  Marcos’s game is at 8pm on Friday at Coconino High School gym, Court 8. (see attached schedule for details)

The tournament is pool play, so Saturday and Sunday game schedule will depend on our bracket.  The last game on Sunday begins at 10:30am.

Coach Stark, Nina, Kristin, Cynthia, the Jones’, Garcia’s and the Drebert’s will be making the trek up North to transport players and enjoy the weekend festivities.   We’ll be cheering on our Padre’s!

Cager Parents,

This weekend, June 20-22^nd, the MDN Varsity Basketball team will be playing in the NAU Basketball Tournament called “Beat the Heat”. It’s going to be a great time for the boys as they stay in the University dorms and enjoy “all you can eat” meals on campus.  This will be a fun experience for our team and a great way to enjoy lots of basketball in much cooler weather.

Players should plan to be at NAU for registration between 1-2pm on Friday, June 20^th.  There is a $50 per player fee that is due to Coach Stark this week. Make checks payable to MDN Cager Club.  The Cager Club is providing the remainder of the funding for tournament fees and player costs for 2 nights of accommodations.

Each player has received a waiver form that must be signed by a parent. Return the form to Coach Stark by Monday or Tuesday’s camp so they can be mailed in prior to the tourney.

Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from Flagstaff . There will be opportunities for carpooling with other families, so please talk to Coach Stark or other parents if you have a player in need of a ride.

For parents traveling to Flagstaff , there are several affordable hotels around NAU – but book them now since there are some that are filling up.

We’re looking forward to seeing our great parents and fans at the games this weekend. Let’s have some fun while we cheer on the boys.

NAU will NOT let the players play in the tournaments unless they have a SIGNED release form. It is also a good idea to send a copy of your insurance card - just in case.
